Visions and values
Aims and values
Our school community has created a motto - "Sowing the seeds of wonder, where we learn, celebrate, achieve" - which we believe reflects our ambition to instill a thirst for learning.
Aims
As a Church of England School:
- We promote a happy, caring and challenging ethos in which we are all supported to learn and develop, academically, physically, morally and spiritually.
- We provide a broad and stimulating curriculum, in which children are taught to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge, and to make connections between different aspects of their learning.
- We encourage children to take pride in their achievements and those of others, through a family ethos where all members of the school commntiy care for and support each other.
- We work together to inspire all our learners to embrace a growth mindset and use it in their learning.
- We support children's learning in partnership with parents and the immediate and wider communities, helping them to understand and respect their own beliefs as well as the cultures of others.
- We provide a safe and stimulating environment which is well designed and managed to support learning.
Values
The ethos of our school is based on the Christian values of friendship, compassion, kindness and respect.
This ethos underpins all that we do at Winsley. This makes it the successful school that it is; everyone is a valued member of our community and everyone's views count. When you come in to our school we hope that you will see our ethos in action - we believe that actions speak louder than words.
School Council
An important voice in our decisions is that of the children, represented by our active School Council. This is made up of representatives from each class and allows the children the opportunity to discuss school issues that affect them and to offer suggestions for improvement at regular meetings.
