Lunches & Free School Meals

Our school meals are provided by Eynon Catering and are cooked on-site in our own kitchen. The menu typically works on a three-week cycle, however, due to COVID-19 guideline restrictions, we are currently offering a packed lunch option that works on a one week cycle for Term 1.

Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are eligible for government-funded Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM), but you can give your child a packed lunch if they prefer.

  • Meals for children in Years 3 to 6 cost £2.40 per day.
  • All parents are asked to make their child’s lunch choices in advance every term via your child’s ParentPay account regardless of whether you pay for the school lunch or not.
  • Payment for school lunches must be paid in advance, daily, weekly, half-termly or termly.
  • Children in KS1are given a free piece of fruit each day as part of a Government initiative.
  • NO NUTS SHOULD BE BROUGHT INTO SCHOOL IN ANY FORM.

Free School Meals

Since September 2014 all children in Years R, 1 and 2 have been entitled to 'Universal Free School Meals' regardless of your eligibility.

However, in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 free school meals are available only to children whose parents/guardians are in receipt of one or more of the following benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Jobseeker's Allowance (income-based)
  • Employment & Support Allowance (income-related)
  • The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you are NOT entitled to Working Tax Credit and your family’s annual income is not more than £16,190
  • Working Tax Credit ‘run-on’

If your child is in Foundation Stage, Year 1 or Year 2 please do still apply for Free School Meals if you are eligible, even though your child receives a free lunch under Universal Free School Meals - we can receive extra funding per child that is registered!  Your child does not need to eat a hot lunch at school if they would prefer to bring a packed lunch, but it is important that you register if eligible.
