Welcome |
Thank you for taking the time to learn about the Local Governing Committee. We are part of the community that supports your children and the future children who will attend our lovely Winsley Primary School. Our key role is to bear witness to the day-to-day management of the school and hold the school leadership to account for delivering the School Development Plan. We are also part of the wider Palladian Academy Trust network and work to promote Winsley within the Trust and also to the wider community in Wiltshire and beyond. |

My career so far has given me opportunities for varied experiences. Having worked for NHS for a decade, firstly as a clinical midwife and then in Safeguarding roles, I now work for a charity based in BANES providing Alternative Education, Targeted Youth Support and Youth Work sessions. I work directly supporting staff with safeguarding concerns, as well as working strategically within a multi-agency context. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading and going to the gym. I am also an active member of Winsley Cricket Club. I moved to Wiltshire with my family in July 2023 from Leeds, and both my sons now attend Winsley Primary School. The school has very quickly become an important community for us as a family. I am committed to supporting Winsley Primary School in being a place which is safe and inclusive, where each child can thrive and where community flourishes. |

In my day job I work as a senior lawyer for the National Trust. The role takes me all over the United Kingdom, allowing me to shepherd leadership teams through complex property transactions, landscape scale fundraising projects and dispute resolution. My work as a lawyer, journalist, charity worker and volunteer over the last two decades has afforded me rich and varied experiences. I pledge to apply all the skills and experiences I have developed to supporting our children in this formative stage of their lives. With such a strong and involved parent community, talented teaching professionals and fabulous setting, I believe Winsley is capable of creating life-long learners of us all and championing best in class standards as a small school that consistently punches above its weight. I look forward to working with you to achieve just that. |
Reverend Tessa MannFoundation Governor Christian Distinctiveness and Behaviour |
I am an Anglican Priest in the Church of England. Currently, I am part of the clergy team serving North Bradford on Avon, which includes Christ Church in town and the villages of Winsley, South Wraxall and Monkton Farleigh. I moved to Winsley in October 2017 with my husband Richard, having lived and worked in Salisbury for the last 23 years. Winsley is proving a super place to live and work. I particularly enjoyed appearing as ‘Fairy Nuff’ in the village Panto in March 2018! Schools ministry has been a very important, fulfilling and fun part of my life for many years. This has involved amongst other things, serving as a Governor in a number of Church of England Primary Schools in Wiltshire. My current responsibilities involve encouraging the school in its identity as a Church of England School and helping to prepare the school for its regular SIAMS Inspection (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools). I offer input into Collective Worship, V2Crew (a pupil group exploring and developing the school’s values and ethos), staff wellbeing and other pastoral support where appropriate. Prior to being ordained, I have worked in mental health community work and in school administration. I have loved being a mum to our two sons and am about to embrace being a grandma. I enjoy dancing, poetry, baking, sewing, all things Italian and most of all being with our family. |
Julie TargettStaff Governor Community Participation |
I’ve been part of the Winsley School community since joining as an administrator in 2009 – a convenient job, I thought, while my children were of primary school age. They are now in their early twenties and I am still here! I have experienced the school from all angles: from the school office, as a parent, PTA secretary, clerk to governors, teaching assistant, one-to-one SEN assistant, MDSA, and catch-up tutor. I hope that my knowledge of and affection for the school will be an asset in my role of staff governor. I moved to Winsley from inner London where I worked on antiques and interiors magazines and books, as well as organisations such as Sotheby’s, the V&A, Museum of London, Sir John Soane Museum and Royal Academy of Arts. As a professional editor with an MA in Creative Writing, I have a passion for correct written English which I bring to the classroom, helping the children to master the spelling, punctuation and grammar curriculum. I’ve always enjoyed contributing to my community, from running a local Woodcraft Folk group and sitting on the management committee of my children’s nursery, through to more recent involvement creating sets for Freshford village pantos and volunteering for Iford Arts. In my spare time I enjoy writing, visiting art galleries and spending time with friends. |

I am a Parent Support Adviser / Deputy Designated Safeguarding lead in a primary school in BANES. As a parent of three and a very involved grandparent of 4 children, I bring a strong understanding of family life and children's needs. In my spare time I enjoy swimming, yoga, going to the gym , walking the dog and spending time with my family. I am committed to helping with Winsley Primary School provide a safe and supportive environment where every child can thrive. |
